And I can make coffee once again

I’m back! Well, at least I’m back to let you know we are alive and doing okay after surviving Hurricane Milton.

Milton arrived with a vengeance on October 9, sadly leaving destruction, flooding, and deaths behind.

We suffered street flooding, downed trees and limbs, and have been without power for a week. The photo above shows the flooding on our street after it receded somewhat.

Neighbors who left the area could not return to their homes because of the flooding, and those of us who stayed could not leave because of the water. I felt like I was on a deserted island.

No power meant that we lost most of the food in our refrigerator, could not make homemade meals, could not go grocery shopping, could not watch TV, and had no access to the internet.

Fortunately, we had friends who would carry ice into our neighborhood so that we could keep some of our salvaged food in coolers until power was restored.

Others sent us food delivery once the water receded and entry was available. One dear friend even sent me coffee, which I was craving badly after four days of being unable to brew it. We are very blessed to have wonderful friends.
